Our winter appeal: 20,000 meals by March
Cold months double the queue at the pantry. Here is our plan, and how you can help.
Every winter the pantry queue doubles. Heating bills rise, seasonal work dries up, and more families come through our door for the first time.
This year we want to be ready: 20,000 meals between December and March, a fuller pantry, and a warm room open every weekday afternoon.

“Nobody should have to choose between heat and dinner. Not on our street.” — Ruth Amankwah, executive director
How the money will be used
Half goes straight to food: fresh produce from Greenway Grocers at cost, dairy, and the staples that run out first — rice, oil, tinned fish.
A quarter keeps the kitchen open longer: two extra paid cooks, gas for the ovens, and the walk-in fridge that is older than some of our volunteers.
The rest funds the warm room: coffee, soup, a few couches and someone to talk to between 1 and 5.
